Foster-to-Adopt a Cat
Help an Undercat in Need by Giving it a Home While Deciding if they’re the Right Fit
Are you thinking of adopting a cat but not sure whether it will suit your lifestyle? Black Cat Rescue’s Foster-to-Adopt program is ideal for those looking to adopt but want to make sure the cat is the right fit before making the final commitment. There are many reasons why this might be a good option, including if the cat has medical needs, is high energy and/or to see if the cat is compatible with other members of the household.
How does Foster-to-Adopt with Black Cat Rescue work?
After completing a Foster-to-Adopt profile below, a Black Cat Rescue team member will reach out if you are selected for our program. If you would like to move forward, they will set up a virtual orientation meeting, and references will be checked, after which you will be cleared for fostering and adoption. You will be presented with cat(s) who we think are a good fit, and if you wish to move forward, you will become the cat’s foster volunteer. During this time of fostering, the cat remains a Black Cat Rescue cat, and we pay for any medical needs of the cat, while you provide a safe and loving environment, food, litter and water, while communicating regularly with Black Cat Rescue about how the cat is doing. You have until the designated Foster-to-Adopt period, which is agreed on before the cat arrives in your care, and is typically two weeks from arrival, to decide whether you wish to adopt the cat. If you choose to adopt the cat(s) you will sign our adoption agreement and congratulations, make a suggested donation based on the age of the cat, and then the cat is officially yours! If you choose not to adopt the cat, you remain it’s foster volunteer and the cat is made available for adoption until its adopter is found.
