Foster-to-Adopt a Cat
Help an Undercat in Need by Providing a Home While Deciding if they’re the Right Fit
Are you thinking of adopting a cat but not sure whether it will suit your lifestyle? Black Cat Rescue’s Foster-to-Adopt program is a great way to ensure the cat is the right fit for your household before making a long-term commitment. Foster-to-Adopt is ideal for:
Determining if you can meet a cat’s medical needs
Seeing if a cat’s energy level is a fit for your household
Assessing compatibility with other animals in the home
How does Foster-to-Adopt with Black Cat Rescue work?
After completing our Foster-to-Adopt profile below, a Black Cat Rescue team member will reach out to set up a virtual orientation meeting, and references will be checked, after which you will be cleared for fostering and adoption. You will be presented with cat(s) who we think are a good fit, and discuss cats that might be a good fit. During the Foster-to-Adopt period, Black Cat Rescue maintains ownership of the cat, and pays for medical care. You provide a safe and loving environment, food, litter and water, while communicating regularly with Black Cat Rescue about how the cat is doing. You have until the end of the designated Foster-to-Adopt period, which is agreed on before the cat arrives in your care (and is typically two weeks from arrival) to decide whether you wish to adopt the cat. If you choose to adopt the cat you will sign our adoption agreement and make a suggested donation based on the age of the cat to make the adoption official! If you choose not to adopt the cat, the cat will remain in your home as a foster cat until adoption as we work together to get the cat adopted.
