Leprechauns, fairies, black cats and Big Foot.

In Season 1, Ep. 22 of At Home and Abroad, Harris and Walker discuss how superstition itself is born out of legend and folklore and how rituals give us a sense of control over the unknown.

In the wake of The Boston Globe’s fear factor article in 2011 and a history of haunting black cat adoptions near Halloween, we compiled stories based on research and input from fans, followers, and friends all over the globe in search of black cat tales – from anecdotes to legends. We will be updating those stories and reposting them here in the future. In the meantime, check out what Jen had to say about black cat lore and the history of Black Cat Rescue (BCR).

Jen joins Harris and Walker around the 15-minute mark to dive into the origins of black cat superstition and its impact on black cats, especially in terms of adoption rates with shelters and rescues. She also discusses how BCR overcomes some of these challenges.
